Features / Platforms / Mastodon
Mastodon, whichever instance you’re on.
Content warnings, four privacy levels, and editing after publishing. Federated, so limits vary a little by instance. We read them from yours rather than assuming.

What you can publish
POST
Text with up to 4 files
Around 500 characters, depending on the instance you’re connected to.
CONTENT WARNING
A spoiler header
Hide the body behind a warning line, expected etiquette on most instances.
PRIVACY
Four visibility levels
Public, unlisted, followers-only or direct, set per post.
The real limits
Mastodon is federated: your instance sets the character limit and the attachment ceiling, and they differ. The figures below are the common defaults, and we respect whatever your own server reports.
Comments
Reply, like, delete.
Comments import with their threads. Reply, favourite and delete from the inbox.
How the inbox works →Analytics
Thin by design.
Follower counts and basic post engagement. Mastodon deliberately collects very little, which is the point of it, so nobody can give you more.
What we report →3 things worth knowing
Content warnings are the norm
Using them well is the difference between welcome and blocked on most instances.
Edit after publishing
Supported natively, unlike almost everywhere else.
No algorithm
Chronological timelines mean posting time matters more here than anywhere else in the set.
