How To Make Playlists On Tiktok

Well, this little app has quite literally taken the world by storm. According to the company’s data, over 1.5 billion of us across the globe have signed up to get that dopamine rush as we flick through the hundreds of videos on offer.

And while many of us sit back and watch these funny little videos pop up on our screens, there are hundreds upon thousands of users that are working as hard as they can to create the content we devour so easily.

When you’re coming up with the amount of content that these creators do, sometimes you can use a helping hand in terms of organization.

Keeping certain videos in playlists helps to keep things organized and easily accessible for their viewers. And this will mean more retention, more views, and more overall revenue.

So, let’s take a look at exactly how to go about it.

How To Make A Playlist On TikTok?

There are 2 main ways to make your playlists on Tiktok. You can make a playlist from a video or make a playlist from your profile. I’ll go over how you go about both options now.

Playlist From Video

To make a playlist from a video, you’ll need to follow the steps below:

  • Open the TikTok app and select ‘Profile’ from the menu located at the bottom of your screen.
  • Open one of your videos
  • From there tap the ‘Menu’ icon and select the option ‘Add to playlist.’ Alternatively, you can hold down on the video and open a pop-up menu and click ‘Add to playlist’
  • Next you will click ‘Create a playlist’
  • From there you can then give your playlist a name. You want it to be clear and direct so that your followers can easily select playlists that will be of interest to them.
  • Once you’ve chosen your playlist name you can create your playlist and viewers will be able to view your playlists and videos within it.

Playlist From Profile

  • Open the TikTok app and select ‘Profile’ from the menu located at the bottom of your screen.
  • Open the ‘Videos’ tab which will be located on the far left besides the ‘Private Videos.’
  • From there you can click ‘Sort videos into playlists.’
  • You’ll then need to pick a name for your playlist
  • Add all the relevant videos to your new playlist. You can add as many videos as you’d like to a playlist but all videos can only be in one playlist at a time.
  • Reorder your videos in your preferred order. This may be chronologically, by view count, or any other system you deem fit.
  • Click ‘Create playlist’ to save your work and to publish the playlist.

 Playlist Requirement

If you’ve seen other creators playlists, you may have though that’s a handy feature. I’d like that! And I don’t blame you, it’s a very useful tool to help you keep all similar videos in one place.

It can make things much easier for your viewers too meaning you’ll keep more retention. For example if you’re doing a POV series then fellow TikTokers won’t need to scroll through your whole profile to find the next part of that series.

This means they’re much likely to continue with the series and thus give you higher view retention.

However, you may be looking left, right, and center for this feature and coming up empty handed. Well, it might be because you don’t reach the follower requirements for said feature.

You’ll need a minimum of 10,000 followers at the time of your videos publication for you to be able to access playlists.

If you haven’t quite got there yet, don’t be discouraged, keep going and keep growing, and I’m sure in no time at all, you’ll get the chance to see the highly-coveted playlist feature.

How You Can Use The Playlist Feature

I mentioned above one of the ways that the playlist feature can be beneficial, but let’s take a closer look at the different ways you can optimize the playlist feature.

  • Organization – Do you give advice on your TikTok? It could be useful to organize all of those tips into a handy playlist. You could have Cleaning Tips or Gaming Tips etc. This works especially well if your content varies often. You can create category playlists so that viewers can find the relevant information they need.
  • Subcultures/Communities – There are  tons of communities and subcultures within TikTok. There’s FilmTok, BeautyTok, BookTok and so many more. Creating playlists that cover the subculture you’re participating in can help viewers find the content that is right for them.
  • Fictional Content – As I mentioned earlier, if you create fictional content that follows a storyline, having a playlist that allows viewers to go through these videos chronologically is super helpful as they don’t have to scour through all your many videos to find them.
  • Storytimes With Multiple Parts – Similarly to the point above, if you’re filling your viewers in with some hot gossip or some kind of non-fictional story that requires multiple parts, putting the entire saga together in one playlist makes it much easier to view.

How To Find Another Creators Playlist

If you are watching an interesting video and want to watch more content always check the bottom screen of the video. If the creator has the video as part of a playlist you will see the ‘Playlist’ icon at the bottom of the screen.

When you click it, it will open ip their playlist and you can select any of the videos within it.

Final Thoughts

TikTok is a super popular app and with over a billion users it’s unsurprising that new feature are being introduced all the time to make things easier and more accessible for viewers.

And hopefully after reading this articl, you should now know everything you need to know about the playlist feature.
